store.apple.com is still near crawl levels. It appears you can shop now (the whole system has been sluggish for the past few hours), but at least the products and the deals pages are working. As FC said, the order review still does not work. My errors range from no errors to connection to database problems. Gotta love Thanksgiving!

No problems for me yet. yay I got a good price on an AP express!

My answer is that I don't know what purpose it serves, and neither do you. This does not mean it's dangerous.

Can it be used for nefarious purposes? That depends. No one really knows a lot about it. There's not a whole lot anyone can do by tracking what cell ....

Stand fanboy crap refusing to answer the question.

*LTD* That is not an answer to the question.
To me your refusal to answer screams that You are nothing more than a blind Apple fanboy who refuses to think for once self. The question gave you a broad latitude to answer it but you refused to.
This tells me if it was ANY ONE else but Apple you would be all over it. But because it is Apple you will worship it and say it is good.

So if you feel it is so GOOD. PROVIDE REASONS.
We have provided list of bad reasons and you have yet to provide a single good reason. You seem to be defending it so therefor you must have a long list of good reasons for it. So provide some good reasons why Apple should be data collecting like this.

For Cell phone providers I can understand why but I have yet to see a single reason why Apple or Google should.
At least when ask why Google responded. Apple has yet to respond and that is worry some.

I'm guessing that valve won't get any love for Portal 2 (I know it isn't released yet, but come on it's gonna be amazing).

Seems a little short sighted when there is so much amazing software not yet in the app store, but apple seem to be trying to promote their store, which I'm still hesitant to use as the macupdate bundles normally keep me happy, likewise thee is so much filler and little killer, or maybe I'm just bitter that NI don't offer a Komplete update for a tenner (200 I'm gonna have to spend soon).

I ordered mine on Monday and got it yesterday (ground shipping!). [...]
    Jim
Reminds of an issue many years ago when Apple released the G3 (B&W).
The first batch had a crippled ATA bus due to the wrong chip.
If you bought the same machine, same model number, same specs
a month later you had a different chip and much improved Hard Drive performance.
How could you tell them apart?
You had to search out the chip inside the G3 and find the number on the chip to compare with the newer one.

    Happy Birthday NeXTSTEP!!! ;)

All of this begs the question... what's next for OS X?

I'm guessing they'll never move away from UNIX as the core OS... too late in the game now, but what are the alternatives?

I'm hoping they'll keep plugging at technologies like Open CL, GCD etc. to make Macs even faster...

So Saunders then what you're saying is that to believe in god you can't swear? He's not sending mixed messages because his songs aren't saying ******* god.

And just so you know, compared to any other big rappers right now, Kanye doesn't swear at all. He has the cleanest lyrics of any of the current big rappers because he isn't gangsta rap.

While I do agree that he isn't a thug/gangsta rapper, which is a good thing, I still believe he is sending mixed messages. He is trying to portay himself as though he believes/follows Jesus, and yet is swearing......

Do I believe in God? ******* yeah!!!

Sounds kind of stupid to me........ Mixing God and swearing....

T-Mo may have screwed the pooch on their 3G rollout, but my phone doesn't drop 30% of my calls. It'll be interesting to see how ATT, and TMo keep up with the 3G coverage, as Verizon and Sprint move forward.

Amazing longevity. A truly robust platform that brought Apple into the 21st century. Especially when you consider the competition at the time! I seem to remember Mac OS X was touted as Apple's platform "for the next 20 years" when it was introduced. So it's only halfway finished!

I have an experiment for those that say "It runs fine on my <insert computer here>."

Open up (in full screen mode) a landscape oriented RAW image and:

    1. Use the straightening tool.

    2. Try to rotate it 180.

    3. Use the patch tool.

Let us know what you find.

    Thanks!

    Curiouser and curiouser.

If it's a fake, whoever did it did a pretty interesting job on it.

    It looks plausible.

    I mean we had:

    iphone 3g
    iphone 3gs

    why not
    iphone 4
    iphone 4gs

Which would give incentive for people to go for the white one I guess.

then the 5 comes out later?

    It would be 4S ;)

Those that use the analogy of their home internet connection not restricting use...well...that's just it... your T&C there does not restrict devices and use. Not the same thing. As for you gas analogy, again not the same thing. You have no contract with Exxon on how you use your gas. If Exxon made a contract with you to use the gas only in the car that purchased it..it would be the same. You could then decide to buy it or find another source (carrier).

Since you mention fuel, you can use the same fuel to heat your home or to drive a car with Diesel engine. In Europe, there will be a _huge_ difference in tax. In some European countries, farmers can get tax free or low tax diesel fuel for use in their tractors and other farming machines. You can safe a lot of money by using this low tax fuel to run your car. You will also get into an awful lot of trouble if you get caught doing it.

In my opinion, and that of Websters dictionary, I have an unlimited data plan, therefor I already do pay for it.

Oh if only I had the dough, I would sue AT&T into the ground. A decent lawyer and fair judge would find against AT&T for the use of the word unlimited and their unfair anti-consumer practices that have followed.

AT&T can do whatever it wants, but it NEVER should have used the word unlimited, because theyve opened themselves up for failure in a future lawsuit. Someone will do it.

Whatever plan you have, AT&T will calculate the average cost of users on that plan, add some profit, and that is what they will charge. People on "unlimited without tethering" use less data and cost less money on average than people on "unlimited with tethering", and therefore are charged less. You basically want to get rid of the two different plans, only one plan "unlimited with tethering" would exist. The average data usage would be higher than for those on the plan without tethering, the average cost is higher, so the charge will go higher. In other words, cost goes up for people who don't tether.

I don't give a damn. If I pay for a chunk of data, it isn't up to the provider to dictate how I use my data. If I want to syphon fuel out of my vehicle for use in another, that is my decision not Exxon's.

If you go to an "all you can eat" buffet, you can't take food for your wife and six hungry children.

    No screening room (http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/2859/xxapple1984.jpg)?

Thats not apart of what a home should be. Homes are for eating, sleeping, loving, and relaxing. A screening room is for... Well, none of those.

While I still like android a LOT better than iOS, I think it is a little unfair that carriers aren't allowing tethering apps to be installed on devices. I am paying more than I want to for my cellphone bill, and I think I should be allowed to install a tethering app.

Shopping at Best Buy is a crime in itself. :) I feel bad for the kid, but we don't know if he did that on purpose or had other motivation. Maybe he lives with his dad who is an abusive drunk and is trying to get fired as an excuse so he can move out of state to live with his mom and go to college with his old friends from back home. In that case, it's a win for both and the OP was doing the kid a favor and didn't know it. OMG my ipad2 just came to my door!
