Foss Patents (http://fosspatents.blogspot.com/2011/04/samsung-now-countersuing-apple-in-four.html) and Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-04-28/samsung-broadens-patent-dispute-against-apple-with-u-s-lawsuit.html) report that Samsung has broadened its patent lawsuit against Apple to include the U.S.In the U.S. complaint, Samsung accuses Apple of violating patents that "relate to fundamental innovations that increase mobile device reliability, efficiency, and quality, and improve user interface in mobile handsets and other products."The 10 patents that Samsung is alleging that Apple has infringed upon are detailed (http://fosspatents.blogspot.com/2011/04/samsung-now-countersuing-apple-in-four.html) on the Foss Patents blog. Seven of the patents are related to communications standards and the others with user interface.
The Samsung counter-suit is in response to Apple's original lawsuit against Samsung over the Galaxy line (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/18/apple-targets-samsung-with-new-lawsuit-over-galaxy-line/) of smartphones and tablets. Apple has accused Samsung of "blatant copying" of the iPhone.

I've never been able to understand how a WiFi phone could be a success before WiFi networks become pervasive and virtually free. How could you use a WiFi phone in your car, for instance? And what's the point of having iChat on your phone when you can only use it in the currently few and limited WiFi-enabled areas?
Hmmm. I think I figured this one out. It's Apple. Apple makes Macs. All new Macs have Airport. Macs are plugged into the Internet. iPhones are made by Apple. Apple controls the default settings on Mac OS X.

Apple already released a new iPhone this year... remember? The one that works on a CDMA network!
1) You really think they would put all that work into rolling out the CDMA iPhone 4 in February then turn around 4 months later and expect these people to buy an iPhone 5?
2) You know how many pissed off Verizon people there would be? June 2012 at the earliest... ;)

Not even close. The 4 sold 2.2 million on Verizon; the Thunderbolt sold maybe 500-700,000. TB sold 130,000/wk. 4 on Verizon sold 366,000/wk.
This whole meme is based on an analyst who called a 150 Verizon stores and asked how the TB was selling vs. the 4. 61% said that they were selling about the same; 28% said that the TB was selling better.
This was a stupid methodology, of course, since it left out factors like how the 4 was selling at Apple stores or online...or at any place other than verizon stores. And the analyst also only polled stores in locations were LTE was available.
